Namaste, my name is Jacqueline Ey and as the creator and lead teacher at Anahata Yoga Sanctuary, my passion has always been to help those around me and the inspiration for Anahata YS was to build a home for my community. My personal background as a former collegiate athlete led me into the health and fitness field professionally for almost 20 years working as a personal trainer, group instructor and finding joy working in corrective exercise. I found yoga while in college and knew I wanted to teach at the age of 19. Fast forward and now I have been teaching yoga for 12 of those years and continue to pursue my own personal growth. Initially I fell in love with yoga as a means to improve my flexibility for collegiate golf and then after college I continued my journey trying various styles but really I fell in love with the routine and consistency of Ashtanga. I saw my practice improve weekly and once I found my rhythm in that practice, it evolved to vinyasa flow. I have also experienced injuries over some decades between auto accidents and the strain of having played golf for a decade and eventually I had a slipped disc in my neck which would flare up frequently. I learned to understand what the pain actually was and how to improve myself physically, but it was also an expansion of my mind, emotion and spirit. I would say that my experience through all of this and other injuries I have had has been a blessing as it has improved my ability to teach and understand others as they arrive on the mat in front of me. And so, my intention is to meet people where they are mentally, physically and emotionally but to also give them room and confidence to spread their wings and safely explore. In classes, I love incorporating functional movement, easy cues and breathwork to offer the community a safe yet light-hearted class to practice. In a one-on-one setting, I deliver a fusion of functional and corrective movement, breathwork, myofascial release, Thai yoga, somatic journeying, energy-led work and connection to self.

Teacher
Jennifer Moulton
Credentials: RYT200; Sound Healing
Yoga has weaved through her life starting at a time when she was physically and mentally weakest. Intuition lead her down this path and what she went through made her a true believer, that it is never too late or a bad time for anyone to start yoga. The practice of yoga helped her find balance through the storm of experiencing a kidney transplant in 2018 due to an autoimmune condition which caused her kidneys to fail. This life event was her blessing and sunshine in disguise. It helped her to grow and evolve into something she could never have imagined. In 2019 she completed Ashtanga and Hatha 200 hours yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India. In all her classes you will experience her signature sound healing. She plays healing frequencies on a set of 8 singing bowls made of metal. If you find yourself having a hard time relaxing your mind and body, she invites you to her class and let her share with you the magic of sound and movement.

Teacher
Lizbeth Calleja
Credentials: RYT500; Yoga Nidra; Yin
Hi yogi, I’m Lizbeth! I found yoga many years ago when I moved from Mexico City to Austin. I was looking for a refuge, a safe place where I could make new friends, practice the language, work with my emotions, quiet the mind, make space to listen to my heart, and of course, keep my body mobile in strong in a meaningful way. I have taught traditional yoga, like flow, for over 12 years as well as therapeutic yoga more recently. The experiences I’ve encountered along the way have allowed me to witness the strong relationship between mind, body and soul in both my students and myself every day. Together we will get a better understanding of our bodies, find solutions to relieve stress, as well as find ways to ease discomfort in the back, neck and hip among other things. We will cultivate silence, reflexion, gratitude, and self-love while also focusing on building strength for well-rounded inner and outer wellness. In my teaching, I like to be descriptive and creative. This includes finding modifications to make yoga accessible for everybody. We will use our bodies as tools to get deeper into ourselves. Come and join me, I look forward to sharing space with you!
